Chinatown Night Market 2008 Pictures!

Sunday, July 6th, 2008

Once again, we delivered a strong performance to a packed street, and once again I’ve uploaded the pictures someone took with my camera. (Brian? Whoever it was, we all thank you!)

You’ll find the album at http://www.flickr.com/. Search under People for lkassendy.

¬†I didn’t make any adjustments, so if you see something you like, you may want to edit the brightness or crop them. If you’re unable to, just let me know which images you’re interested in and I’ll do what I can with them.

Cheers,
Linda

Lee’s Banquet Pics!

Friday, March 28th, 2008

I’ve posted another public Flickr album at the following coordinates: http://www.flickr.com/photos/25082428@N02/

Many thanks to Ian who wielded my camera at the Lee’s banquet at Fraser Flamingo Restaurant on Saturday, March 22, 2008. If the link doesn’t work,¬†search www.flickr.com for “Baak Siu Lum” under People.

¬†I also musn’t neglect to acknowledge the performers who all did a marvelous job, and the Lee’s Association for holding the event. Bravo!

Coming up next, I’ll (finally!) upload the pics from the CDs I got from Brian for various events from (yes, way back then) 2005 through 2007.

Help Please

Great Job Everyone!

Wednesday, February 13th, 2008

The Chinatown New Year Parade was a big success on Sunday! Everyone came out with their support and had a really fun time. Although it did get pretty wet about halfway through, it wasn’t too bad. Hopefully everybody got a chance to actually watch the parade on television. For those who don’t know, Channel M hosted an hour special like they do every year, and we’ll soon have some pictures and videos up on our site as well!

So a big hand to everyone who came out and let’s do it again next year!

Happy Chinese New Year 2008!

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008

We wish everyone a Happy Chinese New Year!

This is the year of the rat! Those born in rat years tend to be leaders and pioneers. They are charming, passionate, practical and hardworking. We look forward to another great year of everyone working together and having fun!

This weekend is also our annual Chinatown New Year Parade, which is happening on Sunday February 10th, 2008. We hope everyone will come out and join in the festivities!

Friends and family of members are welcome and are encouraged to participate! There is a huge turnout every year so come early if you can! If this is the first time you are attending the parade, we meet at our Hoy Ping Association location on 440 Main Street Vancouver BC.

Time: Doors will be open at 9:00am. (try to arrive before 10:15am)

Place: Hoy Ping Association (click for map)

Uniforms: Wear black pants and perhaps something for the outdoors

So kids and parents come down and celebrate the Chinese New Year with everyone, have fun, eat, and maybe even get on TV! (If you haven’t yet, check out a clip of us on TV last year in our Videos section!)

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!

Thursday, December 13th, 2007

Wow, it’s hard to believe that it’s almost the end of the year. It flew by really fast. While the holidays tend to be a very hectic and busy period for most people, we hope that everyone gets a chance to enjoy spending some time with family and friends.

This weekend we will be attending the annual Hoy Ping Christmas Banquet, Saturday Dec. 15th at the Floata restaurant in Chinatown. The Martial Arts group will be meeting at Hoy Ping a little early at 5p.m. Please come if you can and then we will be leaving for the restaurant together. For everyone else, we will be at the restaurant by 6p.m.

In addition to a Lion Dance performance we will have a special Martial Arts demonstration by our youngest and newest students, so parents and family cheer them on! We look forward to seeing you all there for a night of food, fun, and merriment.
