Going to a class may be a little confusing if you are new. Here is a brief introduction to some of our main performers and instructors.

Amen Chan

Amen is our most senior student, having been here for seven years. He is our number one lion dancer and recently has been performing sets with the three-section staff and the broadsword.

Raymond Cheng

Even though he is only 16, Raymond is one of our longest-term members. He is a main performer at our shows, specializing in Cha style as well as double dagger sets.

Ricardo Ho

Ricardo is one of our main performers and his knowledge of our sets is second only to our sifu. In addition to lion dancing he usually performs a Bak Sil Lum or “chopper” set.

Leon Ho

Leon is Ricardo’s elder brother and is the main organizer for our events. In addition to teaching many of the students, he regularly performs a Pak Dao or double halberd set.

Linda Kassendy

Linda joined us after years of experience with different styles and is recognized as a sifu. At our shows, she normally performs with the double deer horns or straight sword.

Our club is very active, meeting three times per week and performing in over 10 events per year (this year had 16 events). We have over 90 students ranging in age from pre-teen to senior citizen. Our curriculum includes about 200 sets from different northern shaolin styles. So far, over 50 of these sets have been learned by our students. This includes fist sets and many different weapons sets. In addition to staff, sword and broadsword sets, we have sets for exotic weapons like deer horns, tigerhead hook swords, double halberd and chopper.

This blog is intended for both current members and people interested in martial arts/lion dancing. We will be giving brief updates after classes and performances.
