Welcome to 2008!

Happy New Year! We hope everyone enjoyed the holidays and is looking forward to a new year filled with fun challenges and exciting new opportunities.

Already we have a special Lion Dance performance scheduled for this upcoming Saturday evening, and looking further ahead we have the annual Chinatown New Year Parade, which is a huge event that celebrates the Chinese New Year. Every year the parade gets bigger and bigger, so we’re expecting the largest turn out yet. The Parade will take place on Sunday, February 10th, 2008 and we encourage everyone to come out and help and have fun!

To give those who may be new a taste of what the parade is like we have updated our Videos section with a brand new clip from our performance last year, so do check it out!

Summer Solstice

Thursday, June 21st, 2007

Welcome to the first day of summer!

We’re halfway through year, and now we’re gearing up for the big summer season:

1)First up, on July 1st we have a lion dance show in celebration of Canada Day. There’s always a big turn out with lots of VIPs, lion dance teams, and traditional folk dancers. It’s going to start early this year, so everyone who’s considering coming down to Chinatown that Sunday should start around 9AM!

2)Then less than a week later on July 7th, we’ll be seen performing kung-fu down at the Chinatown Night Market. That will be a Saturday night evening and should be lots of fun with food, games, and a cheering crowd.

So mark your calendars for July 1st and 7th! We’ll post more details as we get closer to the shows and we hope to see you down there!

Hoy Ping 2006 Christmas Banquet, December 16

Monday, December 18th, 2006

Amen/Raymond and Ricardo/Clement opened the evening with an innovative lion dance involving two huge candy canes. Amen then took over as M.C. The kung fu demonstation was an opportunity for our younger students and for some newer students who have not previously performed. They all did very well.

Ricardo and Leon did not perform during the kung fu demos but did go up for karaoke. Hopefully, they will return to kung fu for the next show.

Linda and Jason performed both kung fu and karaoke… demonstrating lethal technique.
